Wii outselling PS3 ‘6 to 1′

Recently I have just blog about this topic on sale of PS3 and Wii.

According the the Japanese analysts, 270,974 Wii was sold in the month of June as compared to the 41,628 PS3 sold in the same month.

Since the launch of Wii in Decemeber, 2.76 million of Wii is reported sold in Japan alone. Less than a million PS3 was sold since its launch in Novemeber last year.

The unexpected sale figure of PS3 is mainly due to the lack of blockbuster games and its hefty price. With games like Metal Gear Solid 4, Final Fantasy XIII and Grand Theft Auto IV in development stage, PS3 has no pull-factor to attract gamers to buy the console. Wii, on the other hand, has much more fun factor then PS3 currently. Revolutionary controller and gameplay design, make one wants to try his/her hand on it. Last but not least, Wii is much cheaper than PS3.

Nintendo continues to dominate sale chart

The Nintendo Dual Screen Lite (DSL) is the best selling console in Japan. According the Japanese research firm, Media Create, 163,888 DSL was sold during June 18 to June 24. That’s an average of 23412 DSL sold by day and 975 per hour. Incredible sale. Nintendo continue to dominate the game console market with DSL and Wii, while Sony PSP and PS3 is lacking in sale.

Surprisingly, the sale of PS2 is better than PS3. 11962 PS2 was sold compared to 9581 PS3. PS3 may be too costly to own right now. Furthermore, the games available for PS3 is still limited and blockbuster games like Grand Theft Auto IV and Final Fantasy XIII are not release yet.

On the other side of the world, the sale of PS3 is better. Where? In Australia. According to this article from Gamespot, PS3 outsells both Wii and Xbox 360.  I wonder who wins in reality? Maybe the gamers?

Nintendo Wii released

The last of the 3 next generation console has been released. Nintendo Wii does not feature fancy hardwares like the PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, however it comes with innovations, such as the Wii Remote.

The Wii Remote is basically a 2 parts controller which features normal directional controls and the movement of the controller itself, as a control. Interesting concept. Now Wii players will no longer sit down at a couch and let the fingers do the movement, but the whole arm and body will be involved too.

Wii is much smaller than Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in terms of thickness width. But this small powerhouse does great job in keeping you hook on the games.

The Wii is the cheapest among the three consoles, priced at US$250. Visit Gamespot for the complete coverage of the hands-on of Wii.

Nintendo releases Wii on Nov 19; Wii on the way, PS3 hit the walls?

The new Nintendo console, Wii, will release on 19 November, 2 days after the release of PS3 at the shores of America. And 2 Dec at Japan. The console will cost US$250 at America and US$213 at Japan. The Wii in Japan will not bundled with Wii Sports unlike the America’s version.

25 games will be available during the launch at America, while 16 games will be available in the other part of the World.

PS3 is due to release on 17 November, but the entire America is going to divide the 400,000 sets of PS3 available during the release. However the number of Wii available during the release is far more than PS3. As the holiday season is getting nearer, the number of consoles to ship worldwide need to be increase in order to meet the high demands of next generation consoles. Nintendo will ship about 4 millions consoles by the end of the year, almost double of what Sony will ship for PS3.

Moreover, the prices of the 2 new next generation consoles are of much difference. PS3 costs double of a single Wii. Price of the console does make a difference sometimes.

When it comes to the contents of the consoles, I think that PS3 may take the advantage due to its popularity with famous game developers and highly-anticipated games such as Final Fantasy XIII. But the price of PS3 makes casual gamers think twice about investing on this powerful monster.
