What is a Blog? How to start a Blog?

It may be a little bit out of the niche of this blog. However, as this is a GameBlog, I shall share my blogging experience with everyone who wants to get a hand on this wordy hobby.

First of all, what is a blog?

The word ‘blog’ came from the ‘weblog’, which means ‘web log’. It’s something like a journal or a log book. As weblog develops, ‘weblog’ becomes ‘blog’, for short.

As a journal or a log book, basically there is a topic to it, we called it the ‘niche’. Many people often use it as a personal journal, noting down and sharing their personal life through the blogosphere, with the follow bloggers, friends and family, across the globe. Some others like to share a specific niche to the blogosphere. For example, here at GameBlog, I am trying to share news and updates in the gaming scene. It may seems like it’s a very tuned down version of many popular gaming portals such as GameSpot or IGN. But I’m trying my best.

You can find all sort of blog out there. Music blogs, movies blog, anime blogs, religious blogs, how-to-make-money blog, sales blogs and so on and so on.

Think of a niche that you want to blog on and get started.

After you got your niche ready, it’s time to get your hand dirty and start typing. But before that, you need a blog host. There are 2 types of blog hosting available. Hosting on a server with your own domain name, just like www.thegameblog.net, or free hosting from popular blog hosts such as Google’s Blogger/Blogspot or Wordpress. You can get free accounts from there and start blogging!

Stay tune for more to come!
